As we are all aware from the Rana Plaza tragedy in Bangladesh in 2013 where over a thousand workers sadly lost their lives, fast fashion is proving ever more dangerous and forcing workers to work in appalling conditions.
Adults & sometimes children are being forced to work to meet the gruelling demands and increased product turnover of typical high street fast fashion brands. More should be done by the industry to ensure such a tragedy never occurs again. However we as shoppers could also make an informed choice and go ethical.
Darlo baby clothes are all made in GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) accredited factories which ensures compliance to globaly recognised practices that consider social standards, as well as environmental. We will be blogging more about GOTS soon but wherever you see GOTS you know that clean and safe working conditions, no child labour, living wages, fair working hours and conditions were upheld. Further to this, through our a little giving changes lives programme with Project Crayons, Darlo provide a week’s worth of meals for a child in India with every purchase from the Darlo range.
